Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method

   1        pound           yellow cornmeal
   6 1/2  ounces          flour
   1 1/2  tablespoons   baking powder
   2 1/2  teaspoons     salt
   1 1/2  cups                onion -- minced
     1/4   cup                 jalapeno -- minced
      3     each               egg
   1 1/4  cups               milk
 
Combine dry ingredients.  Combine rest of ingredients and add to dry and mix well.  Let stand for 5 minutes.  Drop batter into 375 degree oil for 3 to 5 minutes til golden brown.
