In the Heart of TEXAZ Cookbook

We opened in October of 1985 under the name of Lone Star Steaks. 10 years later, after a small legal copyright spat with a national chain (which shall remain unnamed), we renamed the restaurant TEXAZ Grill. Not much else has changed in all of those years. There’s more stuff on the walls, more gray hairs and Jim Mitchell has retired to pursue his love of travel and golf.

From the very beginning we’ve maintained the philosophy that we would provide a quality product, at a reasonable price, in a fun and unique atmosphere. We don’t chase trends or the latest food fads, which has served us well over the years. We work very hard to maintain our reputation as a local favorite. It’s always a thrill when our ‘young’ customers of from back in the day bring in their grandkids. That’s what TEXAZ hospitality is all about.

When we celebrated our 25th anniversary a few years back, we decided to share some of our secrets with you. We’ve included many of our own recipes along with some from our friends, family, customers and purveyors. We hope that you will enjoy them for many years to come.

In the Heart of TEXAZ, The Joy of Texas Cookin’ is available for just $12.00 in the restaurant. Please ask our hostess or your server if you would like to purchase one.

Thanks to all of y’all for making this a great experience! Couldn’t have done it without your continued loyalty.
